There has been and is a lot of discussions about IF there are any SHTF events. However, how many people REALLY believe something will happen to them? There is a lot of information available on how to prepare for becoming self-sustaining, however, would be interesting to know how many people have actually and appropriately applied self-sustaining programs for themselves and their families.
Seriously, IF the electricity stopped, and was NOT coming back on, what would YOU do?

People believe the government will save them. I think they would save themselves and we'd be left on your own. Thanks to this post, I am now looking into a solar battery backup for my well. Even if I experience a bad hurricane, I could lose power for weeks. Time to be prepared.

Exactly right, Paula. And that is an excellent idea with the solar power !
Discussing being prepared compared to "being prepared" makes all the difference in a life or death situation. No matter what the cause is, if people are not prepared, they will probably die.
Easy to throw around words sitting at a desk with a grocery store down the street. But what if we found ourselves sitting in our homes, with no power. Not as a topic for discussion, but, yes, you, YOU out there reading this, YOU, what would you DO?
Because of ANY reason.
Nuclear blast wiping out the governing infrastructure. Yellowstone becoming volcanically active. Large meteor striking the Earth. Intense solar flares. A massive hiccup in the Telluric Currents. Extreme shift of the magnetic poles. And so much more....
Ever watch the History Channel and take notice of how many civilizations have come and gone? Some in a rapid fashion? And the ones that are known about in our history books are probably just a very small percentage of civilizations that were. There "were" probably thousands, but have been completely erased.
So, the chances are, catastrophe is a'comin.
When the grocery store is no more, where ARE you going to get your food? Medicine ? And how are you going to protect yourself and your family?
Not figuratively.
Not as a discussion in a forum thread.
Not as a video on a social media site.
But YOU really, REALLY, sitting there in your house, NOW having to rely completely on yourself to live.
